Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 13, 2026  ·  Last Updated: September 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how ANGLERHOOD, LLC ("AnglerHood," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the AnglerHood mobile application (the "App").

AnglerHood is currently in beta. As we add features, this policy will be updated, and we will let you know about material changes.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information. When you create an AnglerHood account, we collect your email address and a password. We never see your password in plain text.

Angler Profile Information. You may create one or more angler profiles, for example to record catches for family or friends who fish with you. Profile information includes a display name and any other details you choose to add.

Catch Information. When you record a catch, you may include species, weight, length, girth, a photo, whether the fish was released, and notes. This information is stored on your device.

Location Information. If you allow location access, AnglerHood uses your device's GPS to record where a catch occurred and to retrieve weather conditions for that catch. You can turn this off at any time in Settings under "Save GPS Location." Location data tied to a catch stays on your device and is not shared with other users or with AnglerHood unless you explicitly choose to share that catch.

Camera and Photos. AnglerHood uses your camera to photograph your catches. Photos are stored with your catch record on your device.

Trip and Tournament Information. If you start or join a fishing trip or tournament, we collect the information needed to run it, such as participants, dates, and catch entries associated with it. If a tournament host chooses to restrict a tournament to a specific body of water, the location and radius they set are stored and used to confirm a catch happened inside that boundary.

Club Information. If you create or join a club, we collect the club's name, description, and join code, and your membership record (display name, join date). Tournaments a host links to a club are used to calculate that club's season-long standings.

Weather Data Lookups. To show weather conditions for a catch, AnglerHood sends that catch's approximate coordinates to Apple WeatherKit and/or Open-Meteo, third-party weather data providers. Only coordinates and a timestamp are sent for this purpose — no other personal information is shared with these providers.

Diagnostic and Crash Data. If the App crashes, hangs, or experiences a serious performance issue, Apple's MetricKit framework generates a diagnostic report describing what happened on your device. We automatically collect these reports, tied to your account, so we can identify and fix problems. These reports do not include your catches, photos, or location history — only technical details about the App's behavior at the time of the issue.

Feedback and Reports. If you send us feedback or report a tournament, club, catch, or another angler, we collect your account email, the message you write, and — for feedback only — your device model, iOS version, app version, and an optional screenshot you choose to attach. This goes only to the AnglerHood team, never to other anglers.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information above to create and manage your account and angler profiles, record and display your catches, trips, tournament, and club activity, retrieve weather conditions for your catches, operate features like catch history, tournament leaderboards, and club season standings, diagnose and fix crashes or performance problems, and maintain and improve the App.

AnglerHood lets anglers report a tournament, club, catch, or angler name they believe is inappropriate, and lets you block another angler so you no longer see their tournaments, clubs, or roster listings. Reports are reviewed by our team; a block only changes what's shown on your own device and doesn't affect anyone else's view.

3. What We Do Not Do Today

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics tracking SDKs in the App. We do not upload your catch photos or full catch records to AnglerHood's servers today — catch data, including photos and location, is currently stored locally on your device. Your angler profile display name, and small structured tournament/club details (like a catch's species and weight, or a club's name), are synced to our backend so shared features like leaderboards and season standings work across devices. We do not use your photos to train our AI or fish-identification models unless you separately and explicitly agree to contribute them under a future contributor program. The one exception to photos staying on your device: if you choose to attach a screenshot to a feedback submission, that image is sent to our support team only, never to other anglers.

As AnglerHood adds features such as cloud backup, social sharing, or broader tournament sync, this policy will be updated to describe any new data collection or sharing before those features are available to you.

4. Data Contributor Program (Opt-In)

When you create your first angler profile, and any time afterward in Settings, you can choose whether to join our Data Contributor Program. This is always a real, deliberate choice — we never assume yes or no on your behalf, and there is no default answer until you actually pick one. Choosing not to participate changes nothing else about how the App works, and you can change your preference at any time in Settings.

If you participate, we collect the species, size, catch date, and a generalized location (rounded to a coarse geographic area, never your exact spot) for catches you log going forward. Nothing is collected retroactively for catches logged before you opted in. We never collect your photos or anything that identifies you individually alongside this data. This information may be shared, in de-identified and aggregated form only — for example, species and size trends by general region and time period — with fisheries conservation and research organizations, similar to programs other fishing apps run in partnership with agencies like the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. It is never shared with advertisers or data brokers, and never in a form that identifies you individually.

5. How We Store and Protect Information

Account and profile information is stored with Supabase, our backend provider, using industry-standard security practices. Catch data stored locally on your device is protected by your device's own security, such as your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and device encryption.

6. Your Choices

You can turn off "Save GPS Location" in the App's Settings at any time — new catches you record afterward will have no location saved at all. You can also disable location access entirely in your device's iOS Settings. You can turn off "AI Catch Estimates" in Settings if you'd rather AnglerHood's on-device analysis not run on your catch photos. You can disable camera access in your device's iOS Settings, though this will prevent photographing catches. You can permanently delete your AnglerHood account at any time from Settings in the App — this removes your login and cloud profile. Catches, photos, videos, and trips already saved on your device are not affected by account deletion; they remain on your device. You can also request account deletion by contacting us at support@jointheanglerhood.com.

7. Children's Privacy

AnglerHood is not currently directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@jointheanglerhood.com and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as AnglerHood evolves. We will update the "Last Updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice within the App.
